A Pediatric Dentist has two additional years of training beyond
dental school in a hospital university environment to prepare him or her
to treat infants, children, and adolescents with both routine and complex
dental needs. This includes the study and training to identify and treat:

Dental growth and development of children

Behavioral management of the anxious child

Early interceptive orthodontic needs

Special needs patients, including the mentally and
physically challenged

Patients needing sedation and/or hospital treatment
Special emphasis is placed on the emotional and physical
development of the growing child as it relates to their dental and overall
health.
Dr. Charles H. Crawford, Jr.,
D.M.D. graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina
in 1973 and completed his residency in pediatric dentistry in 1981. Dr.
Crawford received his certification from the American Orthodontic Society
in 1986. In 1993, he also completed Doyle Seminar's of advanced courses of
Comprehensive Orthodontics.
Our practice, along with the American Academy of Pediatric
Dentistry, recommends the first dental visit by twelve months of age. This
is to help in the prevention of problems that might occur enabling your
child to belong to the "Cavity-Free Generation."
